Observation 4 in my series of 50 observations about abortion leading up to the 2024 presidential elections: Is it a child or a fetus?
The words we use are vitally important. One of the ways people were convinced to go along with abortion was by de-humanizing unborn children through the use of words. Instead of referring to an unborn child as a person or a child those who favored abortion referred to unborn children as fetuses or simply blobs of tissue.
As with many elements of the abortion debate, use of the term fetus seems to have faded away except among doctors. Now most people refer to the unborn as children, but abortion has become so normalized that they openly talk about aborting children. In other words, they freely admit that the unborn are children, not just blobs of tissue, but still believe in a woman’s right to kill the child through abortion.
Next Up: Has abortion ended child abuse?
