50 Abortion Observations – Observation 5

Has abortion ended child abuse?

One of the arguments in favor of legalized abortion was that abortion would lead to less child abuse. Since only those children who are wanted will be allowed to be born there won’t be as much child abuse. Well, has child abuse decreased since abortion became legal? I don’t have the statistics to back me up, but it seems to me that child abuse has not decreased since abortion was legalized.

There was a public service announcement that kept coming over the public address system of the grocery store where I work this summer. It encouraged shoppers to make a donation to a charity when they checked out. The charity would use the donations to help feed the children in our area who face food insecurity (we used to call it hunger) during the summer months when school is not in session.

Isn’t it a form of child abuse not to feed your children, the children you wanted to bring into the world? Wasn’t abortion going to end child abuse since all the children that would be allowed to be born would be wanted?
