This is the tenth of what I hope to be at total of 50 daily observations about the topic of abortion. After 52 years of legal abortion in this country, the topic of abortion still figures prominently in American society. My own state of Missouri will be voting on a constitutional amendment that will give women, “the right to make and carry out decisions about all matters relating to reproductive health care, including but not limited to prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, birth control, abortion care, miscarriage care, and respectful birthing conditions.” Since I am strongly in favor of protecting unborn children these observations will all be from an anti-abortion viewpoint.
Observation 10: Don’t talk about the baby, just the woman
Have you ever heard anyone who is in favor of abortion talk about the baby? If they do ever refer to the baby they refer to it as a fetus or as potential life or simply a blob of tissue. So they never do. They always refer to the woman and her “reproductive rights.” This is a very effective approach, especially for those who don’t take the time to learn about every aspect of this vital issue.
