“The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her own child, what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me? There is nothing between.” Mother Teresa (https://www.catholic.org/clife/teresa/quotes.php, accessed 8-26-2024)
It is the US Supreme Court’s job to decide if our laws are in accord with the US Constitution. If the Court rules that one or more state or federal laws that deal with a particular issue are not in accord with the Constitution, then every law in the country that addresses that issue can be immediately overturned. That is what happened with the Court’s Roe v Wade decision which dealt with the topic of abortion. The Court ruled that there is a constitutional right to abortion. Consequently, every law throughout the country that in any way restricted abortion was immediately nullified.
That is also what happened when same-sex marriage was legalized in 2015. With one ruling, all US laws limiting marriage to one man and one woman were overturned.
