Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. (Proverbs 31:8-9)

Simply passing a law does not always achieve the purpose that those who wrote the law intended. There were many people who still adamantly supported slavery even after it was banned in this country and the bloody Civil War had ended. The ultimate goal of life-affirming people is not just to enact laws that will criminalize abortion. If all we do is succeed in changing the law then people seeking abortions will still find ways to get around the law and kill unborn children. The ultimate goal of life-affirming people is to convince people in their hearts that abortion is morally wrong, a sin against humanity, and that all human life is a precious gift from God.
