There is more than one way to rob a bank. Let me explain. Time and weather had taken their toll on the interior of the Wells Fargo Bank in downtown Owatonna, robbing it of its amazing beauty. So the bank embarked on extensive renovations that involved placing an elaborate system of scaffolding and platforms throughout the lobby area as the following photos show.
The bank was designed by renowned architect Louis Henry Sullivan for Owatonna’s National Farmers’ Bank. It opened to the public in 1908. As these photos show, it is a building well worth preserving.
I wondered where this post was leading. It’s been a long time since I’ve been inside this beautiful bank.
The scaffolding they have set up for this renovation is quite impressive. I’ve noticed a lot more sightseers at the bank since the renovations started.
