Ballot measures are often labeled with some creative titles. That’s the case with one of the ballot measures that Connecticut voters will be voting on in November. It’s called the Lockbox Amendment and it will prohibit the state legislature from using the state transportation fund for anything other than transportation purposes.
Apparently there must be some history behind this amendment. There must have been times when the Connecticut legislature took money out of the transportation fund to use it for other projects. So someone came up with the lockbox idea. If this amendment passes, never again will the legislature be allowed to steal funds from the transportation fund to pay for other things.
