Sea-life themed porcelain and stoneware created by the artist Glynnis Lessing was recently featured at the Owatonna Arts Center. In her artist’s statement Lessing speaks of her love for water and the many animals that live in it. Creatures that live in the water are curved and flexible, making them perfect for stretching them onto the various shapes of her pottery.
For the porcelain pieces Lessing used the sgraffito method.
Lessing’s stoneware is wood-fired.
An impressive collection of functional vessels.
